Nicol Stephen MSP: standing up for Aberdeen

Aberdeen South General Election Results 2005

Welcome to the Aberdeen South Liberal Democrats Website

Aberdeen South is a very diverse constituency, with busy 'hustle and bustle' of the high streets along with the tranquil farming communities. It stretches from Aberdeen City Centre to the countryside of Lower Deeside.

The Liberal Democrats have enjoyed success in Aberdeen South over recent years. At the last council elections, six hard working Lib Dem councillors were elected. At the last Scottish elections we also held the Scottish Parliament seat, which is held by Nicol Stephen.

If you have a question, ideas or want to get involved with the Liberal Democrats locally, please get in touch via the contacts page. In the meantime, we hope you find the information here useful and interesting.

Government must improve support for children in residential care

5.25.36pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 1st Sep 2010

Commenting on an Audit Scotland report on children in residential care, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Education and Young People Margaret Smith MSP said:

“The most vulnerable in society do not always get the support they need.

“The life chances for children in residential care can be very poor, so it is imperative that the Government does everything it can to improve the care they receive.

“They can start by speeding up progress on the planned reforms to outcomes for looked after children and by accepting the recommendations in this Audit Scotland report.”
