Commenting on the publication of the Westminster Government's submission to the Calman Commission, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland Tavish Scott MSP said:
"Labour and the SNP represent the two extremes of Scottish politics. Labour wants no change to Scotland's Parliament and the SNP wants independence.
"Liberal Democrats want a strengthened Parliament within the UK. It is barely conceivable that having lost the 2007 General Election in Scotland on a platform of no change, Labour has decided that no change is again its position.
"The two extreme parties on this issue need to accept that strengthening Scotland's Parliament within the UK - a real home rule settlement - is the preferred choice of the majority of Scots."
