Commenting after issuing a joint statement demanding the Scottish Government takes action to ensure that Scottish homeowners are protected against repossession, Liberal Democrat Housing spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"The SNP Government has, quite simply, been wrong on this issue. Experienced solicitors acting for homeowners have made absolutely clear that the new protocols being introduced in England, taken together with other existing regulations and protocols give English homeowners additional protection.

"Scottish Liberal Democrats have been making this point consistently and are pleased to be part of this cross party campaign to demand that Scottish homeowners be given equivalent protection."
