Commenting after a debate in the Scottish Parliament on Direct Elections to Health Boards, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"Liberal Democrats want to see varied pilots used to find the best option to make health boards more accountable.

"We think that health board's accountability can be increased by expanding the role that councillors currently play. This can be done within the existing system without causing bureaucratic upheaval and confusion."
