Commenting on the publication of a Scottish Government survey showing that the environment is not a top priority for people in Scotland, Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:
"Ministers must do more to underline that action by individuals, households, communities and businesses can address the threat of climate change.
"Public awareness about the effects of climate change is growing. This should be evident to Ministers by the content of their mailbags. Nevertheless, there is more that needs to be done, not just to raise awareness, but to get people engaged in taking action.
"The 'Do a Little, Change a Lot' campaign initiated by the previous executive highlighted that the combined effect of small actions by many individuals can make a big difference.
"The Climate Change Bill is an ideal opportunity for Scotland to take a bold lead in tackling climate change. Ministers must not squander this opportunity by being too timid with their proposals."
