Speaking at a key environment conference today, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott issued a stark warning that nuclear power comes at the expense of green clean power.
Mr Scott was the keynote speaker at the "Renewables, fuel poverty and the security of the electricity supply - getting the balance right" conference in Edinburgh today.
Commenting after the conference, Mr Scott said:
"Government needs to be consistent in its pursuit of real alternatives to new nuclear. Labour cannot decide and the SNP seem to be looking again at the issue.
"We need to be consistent.
"A stable energy policy over the long term is needed. No new nuclear and building up and using other energy sources for houses and businesses across Scotland and the UK.
"We need to convince people that where electricity comes from matters to them, to their children and to Scotland's future.
"That means winning the argument about clean green power. It means winning the argument that climate change matters. And it means winning the argument that Scotland should strive, desire and seek a carbon neutral future."
