Commenting on today's poll by the BBC that reveals almost three quarters of British people believe there should be a public inquiry into the invasion of Iraq, Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary, Edward Davey said: "The British public are right to demand a full public inquiry into the Iraq war.
"The latest revelations over the dodgy dossier suggest the Government was more interested in concocting an excuse for war than protecting us from real security threats.
"Ministers manipulated and spun the facts to create a pretext for joining the US in the invasion of Iraq. That is an insult to our democracy.
"With our troops likely to be home in just a few months, the Government must now start preparations for a full public inquiry.
"No stone must be left unturned until we get the real story out of this Government."
