Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, hopes that Esso have got their act together and there will be no more occasions on which Helensburgh motorists will be left high and dry without fuel.
He was speaking after receiving a reply from Esso to his complaint about the Esso filling station in Helensburgh regularly running out of fuel. This left Helensburgh motorists without fuel since the nearest filling station is 8 miles away in Dumbarton.Alan Reid MP: Argyll & Bute
Esso admitted that the filling station had run out of fuel five times between March and June, but have promised to do "everything possible" to stop this happening again.
Mr Reid said,
"Helensburgh desperately needs a second filling station. Since Esso obtained the monopoly on fuel in Helensburgh and shut one of the town's two filling stations, the remaining filling station has run out of fuel on a regular basis leaving motorists stranded. I hope that Esso have now got their act together and the remaining filling station will not run out of fuel again. If it does, I urge constituents to let me know so that I can take this up with Esso again."
