Commenting on the SNP's proposal to drop the Glasgow Airport Rail Link, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes said:
"Many people believe that the planned transport improvements in Glasgow contributed to the city's winning bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. GARL would also have created 1,300 jobs and cut down congestion and traffic. It was estimated to have delivered £3.14 million per annum in tourism and leisure.
"Ministers were quick to deny that the planned link between Glasgow airport and the city was under threat. But now we know the truth.
"People in Glasgow will be bitterly disappointed that this link has been severed so that the SNP can continue to fritter precious resources away on their vanity projects."
