Commenting on the publication of the Scottish Government's draft budget, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:
"This should be a budget that protects frontline local services and stops a lost generation of young people ending up on the scrapheap.
"Instead we get SNP spin, a refusal to look at the changes we need and a host of expensive SNP vanity projects.
"The budget for the Scottish Futures Trust has almost doubled, but it's not built a single school or hospital. Bonuses for consultants are to go up by £2 million. The SNP is lining the pockets of some of the richest instead of channelling money into creating new opportunities for young people.
"This SNP Government has a funny way of showing that the country needs to face up the future difficulties in our budgets. The SNP stand ready to allow council services to be cut while they continue to hold a gun to their head on Council Tax."
