Number of children in need of intervention highly disturbing

Robert BrownCommenting on the publication of the annual report of the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration, which revealed the number of children on compulsory supervision has increased from 13,219 to 13,523, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Robert Brown said:
"It is highly disturbing that such a large number of our children need this level of intervention in their lives.
"The number of child protection orders alone has increased from 504 to 661 in the last year.
"No child in Scotland should have to suffer this horrendous start in life.
"We must all, our public agencies, politicians and communities, do our utmost to reverse these appalling statistics, each one of which reveals an individual tragedy."
