John Sleigh said: "This is a very big issue on the doorstep. There is a lot of confusion over how Glencraft got into this situation.
"I have been told that that the council have pumped £7million into Glencraft over the past 10 years. The council also added £1.7million to Glencraft's bank account by buying the site. I believe annual support from the council is still on the table.
"The public want to know where this money has gone.
"It is vital everything is done to keep the factory open. Glencraft is
world-renowned and makes superb furniture. I should know- I sleep on one of their mattresses every night."
"Constituents in Aberdeen South have told me they want to know if it is true that a three day a week consultant is paid £100,000 a year."
John Sleigh who is former chairman of the Friends of Doonies charity said:
"With my Doonies experience I realise how difficult and confusing such a situation can be.
"However unpalatable the truth is we need to know the facts of what has happened to Glencraft.
"Everyone must focus on the plight of the individual workers. We need to look to the future without losing sight of why we got to this position."
