Commenting on 'Why Must our Children Pay' campaign, Scottish Liberal Democrat Education spokeswoman, Margaret Smith said:
"This campaign has highlighted again the real pressures that educational institutions, teachers, and schools are facing.
"Teachers and lectures say that unless they get some support from the Government, cuts are going to be felt at the very core of education.
"Local Authorities are being buffeted in two directions. Due to Labour's recession, local authorities have not been given the money that they need and the SNP's tight financial settlement is causing them problems on how to distribute their funds.
"The Education secretary needs to pay attention to the thousands of educational professionals voicing their concerns and act. The SNP government cannot centralise policies and then localise the blame."
