Commenting on Nicola Sturgeon's submission to the UK review on consultant distinction awards, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesman Jeremy Purvis MSP said:
"The SNP Government are introducing their new devolved bonus scheme for next year. Up until we exposed it they were actually planning roadshows for the highest paid in the NHS to nominate themselves for bonuses.
"If the SNP want to perpetuate bonuses in whatever form in the NHS as budget pressures on the front line mean job losses, then they are out of touch with public opinion.
"This is a fully devolved issue and there has been nothing but dither, confusion and spin from the SNP on bonuses.
"They always claim that they want more power; how odd it is that that they are using this one they do have so badly.
"If they want a UK solution to this issue, what on earth are their constant calls for independence all about?"
