Welcome to the Aberdeen South Liberal Democrats Website
Aberdeen South is a very diverse constituency, with busy 'hustle and bustle' of the high streets along with the tranquil farming communities. It stretches from Aberdeen City Centre to the countryside of Lower Deeside. The Liberal Democrats have enjoyed success in Aberdeen South over recent years. At the last council elections, six hard working Lib Dem councillors were elected. At the last Scottish elections we also held the Scottish Parliament seat, which is held by Nicol Stephen. All the signs point to a close two horse race between Labour and the Liberal Democrats in Aberdeen South at both the next UK General Election and Scottish Parliament election. With your support, Aberdeen South is a place where the Liberal Democrats can win! So if you have a question, ideas or want to get involved with the Liberal Democrats locally, please get in touch via the contacts page. In the meantime, we hope you find the information here useful and interesting. MSP Nicol Stephen and Westminster candidate John Sleigh Follow us on Facebook and Twitter![]()

What we stand forNewsPurvis: Veterans must be given same care as in England12.01.00am GMT Wed 10th Mar 2010 The Scottish government has announced that it will give £80,000 to fund veteran’s projects, including supported accommodation and outdoor pursuits to help veterans regain physical and mental strength. Commenting Convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Supporting Veterans in Scotland, Liberal Democrat Jeremy Purvis MSP said: We welcome this cash injection from the Scottish government to support veterans whose bravery should never be forgotten. “However the challenge was set when the UK Government announced the extension of priority medical care to veterans in England and Wales, no comparable extensions has been announced in Scotland. “This is the challenge that the Scottish Government should be considering to make sure there is not a gap in support north or south of the border.
