John Sleigh: Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for Aberdeen South
John Sleigh was born in Aberdeen and raised on his family farm in Aberdeenshire. After studying at University in Glasgow, he returned to the North East to work on the family farm. Working there helped John to appreciate the difficulties facing small businesses. He believes that government should be there to support business not interfere with more red tape. Over the years, John has been heavily involved in a number of community groups, charities and social enterprises in Aberdeen South. He set up and served as chairperson of Friends of Doonies. This is a social enterprise created to take on the running of a community farm in Aberdeen. John wants government to put more effort into promoting community projects for local people. With family roots dating back centuries' in the area, John Sleigh is committed to securing the long term future of Aberdeen. He is dedicated to keeping Aberdeen at the very heart of the Energy Industry. John understands the issues and problems facing people in the North East. This is why he wants more devolved power to local level. No-one knows better how to solve local problems than the people living there. Whether it is NHS dentists or council funding, Aberdeen continually gets a bad deal. John is a leading voice in the Fair Deal for Aberdeen campaign. He will fight to see Aberdeen getting the share of national resources it deserves. John passionately believes in making a positive difference to Aberdeen South.
